400+ businesses trust InfoBox

Smartsign is Swedish digital signage software (Smartsign Display Manager), developed in Borlänge since 1997, with thousands of customers in more than 30 countries. In Finland, Smartsign is sold by resellers and online stores, and the company has a small Finnish sales team in Espoo. Smartsign doesn't publish its own price list, but in Finnish online stores a 1-year license costs about €27–30/screen/month (Standard) or €34/screen/month (Pro), and the current Smartsign 11 requires the Pro license.

With multi-year prepayment, the monthly price of the Pro license drops to about €16.50–20. InfoBox costs from €7/screen/month billed annually, and every feature is included in the same price. The software runs directly on an Android TV, and you can start a trial online right away.

First year for five screens: InfoBox €540, Smartsign Cloud Pro about €2,044.

At a glance
  1. Smartsign is established Swedish software that particularly suits large organizations: native apps for many professional displays, a wide range of Microsoft integrations, detailed access control and the option to install the system on your own server. Sales go through resellers, and the trial starts with a demo.

  2. InfoBox is Finnish cloud software that you buy directly online. One price includes every feature: scheduling, unlimited users, videos, websites and integrations (Power BI, Canva, Google Slides, SharePoint, Google Drive, Lounastaja, Sitedrive, Sinebrychoff ContentHub, YouTube). Android TVs work directly with no extra device.

  3. Software costs for five screens: in the first year InfoBox €540 and Smartsign Cloud Pro about €2,044 (1-year licenses). Over three years, Smartsign about €3,661 prepaid and InfoBox €1,620.

Features

Point by point

Buying and onboarding

Smartsign

Smartsign sells through resellers. In Finland, the sellers include online stores, IT resellers and integrators. The trial starts with a demo, after which you get a full 30-day test license. Basic onboarding (guides, videos and webinars) is free, and custom onboarding is priced separately.

InfoBox

You sign up online, upload content and connect the screen with the app. The first screen is running in about 15 minutes. Onboarding remotely or on site is included in the price, even though most people learn to use it in a few minutes.

License model

Smartsign

A license is bought for each device that plays content. The Standard license works only in the older Smartsign 10 and shows one full-screen item at a time. The Pro license is required for the current Smartsign 11 and for split screen, layouts and touch use. Licenses renew automatically.

InfoBox

InfoBox has no license tiers: every screen gets every feature. The price only steps by number of screens (€9/month for 1–9 screens, €7/month for 10–50 screens).

Displays

Smartsign

Smartsign has native apps for many professional displays (Samsung, LG, Philips, Sony, Sharp, Iiyama and selected Hisense models) and for BrightSign, ChromeOS, Windows and Qbic players. The generic Android app is installed manually, and Smartsign officially recommends supported devices. Smartsign Room meeting room displays and Samsung e-paper displays are also available.

InfoBox

Android TVs (Sony, Philips, TCL, Vestel, Maxhub, Hisense and other Android TV brands) work directly with no extra device. Other TVs only need any Android device in the HDMI port: your own tablet, Fire TV, a generic Android stick or the optional €59 InfoBox Basic stick.

Content and integrations

Smartsign

Browser-based management, calendar scheduling, layers and zones, channels, content templates and an AI assistant (Smartsign 11). Integrations focus on Microsoft: Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Viva Engage and Power BI. Also Google Drive, Instagram, Facebook, RSS, websites, Office files and JSON or XML feeds. Canva, YouTube and Finnish integrations are not mentioned.

InfoBox

Browser-based management where images, videos, PDFs and websites are included in the price. Canva and Google Slides content syncs automatically, and Power BI, YouTube, SharePoint, Google Drive, Sinebrychoff ContentHub, Lounastaja (lunch menus) and Sitedrive (construction site schedules) are shown directly.

Permissions and security

Smartsign

Unlimited users, user groups and more than 200 permission settings. The cloud service runs on Microsoft Azure in the EU region, and the system can also be installed on your own server with Active Directory sign-in. The system also supports emergency messages and triggers from sensors and fire alarms.

InfoBox

Unlimited users at the same price. Data is in Google Cloud's Finland region (europe-north1, Hamina), and the service is fully GDPR compliant. InfoBox has no on-premise installation or control from alarm systems.

Support and language

Smartsign

In Finland there is a small sales team in Espoo and Finnish-language phone support. Product development happens in Sweden, and second-line support and documentation are in Swedish and English. There are few Finnish-language pages.

InfoBox

Finnish-language interface, help center (help.infoboxi.com), email and chat support, and onboarding. Founder Kasper Välimäki handles the hardest cases himself (kasper@infoboxi.com).

Honest assessment

Where Smartsign is the better choice

Smartsign has been in the industry for almost 30 years, and in some situations it is a better choice than InfoBox.

  • Scale and references: Smartsign has thousands of customers in more than 30 countries, and its references include large Swedish organizations such as Volvo, City Gross, Clas Ohlson, PEAB and ABB.
  • Wide hardware support: native apps for professional displays from Samsung, LG, Philips, Sony, Sharp, Iiyama and Hisense, and for BrightSign, ChromeOS and Windows players. Also meeting room displays (Smartsign Room) and e-paper displays.
  • Own server and strict IT requirements: on-premise installation with Active Directory sign-in, more than 200 permission settings, and alarm and sensor triggers suit the public sector and large organizations.
  • Microsoft environments: Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive and Viva Engage integrations are ready to use if your organization runs Microsoft 365.
  • Longer trial: the Smartsign trial lasts 30 days, the InfoBox trial 14 days.

Choose Smartsign if

Smartsign is the natural choice for a larger organization and its IT department.

  • You need the system on your own server or Active Directory sign-in
  • You want your screens triggered by fire alarms and sensors
  • Your organization uses Microsoft 365, and you want Teams, OneDrive and Viva Engage content on your screens
  • You already use professional displays from Samsung, LG or other manufacturers or BrightSign players, or you need meeting room displays

Recommended

Choose InfoBox if

InfoBox is the natural choice when you want a clear price and a fast start with no sales process.

  • You want one price where every screen gets every feature, not separate Standard and Pro licenses
  • You want to start a trial online right away with no demo, reseller or credit card
  • You use Android TVs or want an affordable €59 stick, and don't need a professional display or a separate player
  • You need the Canva, YouTube, Lounastaja, Sitedrive or Sinebrychoff ContentHub integration
  • You want a Finnish-language interface and support, and your data stored in Finland
  • You want a turnkey solution with a transparent monthly price: display leasing (Hisense or Maxhub display, software and pre-installation) from €24/screen/month

Frequently asked questions

Is Smartsign cheaper than InfoBox?+

No. Smartsign doesn't publish its own price list, but in Finnish online stores a 1-year license costs about €27–30/screen/month (Standard) or €34/screen/month (Pro). When you prepay the license for 3–5 years, the Pro license price drops to about €16.50–20 per month. InfoBox costs €7–9/screen/month billed annually, and every feature is included in the price. First year for five screens: InfoBox €540, Smartsign Cloud Pro about €2,044.

What is Smartsign?+

The investment firm Standout Capital has been the company's majority owner since February 2026. There are other services with a similar name, for example SmartGroup's SmartSign Online Studio and a US sign shop, but this comparison covers the Swedish Smartsign Display Manager.

What is the difference between the Smartsign Standard and Pro licenses?+

The Standard license works only in the older Smartsign 10 and shows one full-screen item at a time. The Pro license is required for the current Smartsign 11 and for split screen, layouts and touch use. InfoBox has no license tiers: every screen gets every feature at the same price.

Do Smartsign or InfoBox need a separate player?+

Not necessarily, in either case. Smartsign has native apps for many professional displays (Samsung, LG, Philips, Sony, Sharp, Iiyama and selected Hisense models), and others need a supported player, such as a BrightSign, ChromeOS, Windows or Qbic device. Can I switch from Smartsign to InfoBox mid-license?+
