Sotto Pizzeria

Sotto Pizzeria grew on a five-euro margherita into a nine-restaurant chain. All 29 InfoBox screens and the changing menus are managed fully remotely.

Sotto Pizzeria is the most talked-about phenomenon in the Finnish restaurant scene in recent years: authentic Neapolitan pizza with a five-euro margherita. The first Sotto in its current form opened in Turku in summer 2023, and the chain now has nine restaurants across Finland. Every one of them runs InfoBox screens: 29 screens in total, used to manage changing menus, seasonal offers and campaigns fully remotely.

This is the story of how a fast-growing restaurant chain keeps prices, new items and campaigns up to date in every restaurant without anyone having to print a single poster.

Sotto in brief: Neapolitan pizza for five euros

Sotto's recipe is simple and bold. The dough rises for 48 hours, the flour is Italian 00 flour, the tomatoes come from Naples and the mozzarella is made from cow's milk. The pizza bakes in about a minute in a flame oven running at over 400 degrees. The margherita costs five euros and the most expensive pizza ten. The chain's own slogan says everything about its attitude: "Suomen paras pizzeria! Grazie." (Finland's best pizzeria).

The concept has caught on. After the Turku opening, Sotto has expanded to Helsinki (Käpylä, Sompasaari and Munkkiniemi), Tikkurila in Vantaa, Tampere, Porvoo and, in August 2026, Lahti, and the next restaurant is already on its way to the Länsikeskus shopping centre in Turku. One restaurant bakes around 2,500 pizzas a week, the chain's operational management said in an interview with Avec Media (in Finnish) in autumn 2025. When the newspaper Helsingin Uutiset asked its readers to vote for the best pizzeria in the capital region in spring 2026, Sotto received the most votes of all candidates outside the list.

A low price does not mean cutting corners. It is a carefully tuned concept: a small menu, an efficient kitchen and local entrepreneurs who run their own restaurants. Learn more at sotto.fi.

A menu that keeps changing: why print wasn't enough

Sotto's menu looks simple, but it changes all the time. New pizzas come and go, seasonal offers change and every new opening brings its own campaigns. When the same change has to appear in nine restaurants at once, printed menu boards become a brake on growth: every price change would mean a new print run and a tour of the restaurants.

That is why the menu is on screens in Sotto's restaurants. Above the counter there are three digital menu boards where customers see the pizzas, prices and current highlights right where they order. Some locations also have street-facing window screens that show the offers to passers-by.

The solution: 29 screens, one control panel

Content for all nine restaurants is managed in InfoBox Platform, which runs in the browser with nothing to install. The chain's shared menu and campaigns are built as playlists that are assigned to the chosen screens: the same new pizza appears in every restaurant at once, and a restaurant-specific highlight only shows where it applies.

Everything happens fully remotely. The restaurants' own entrepreneurs update and schedule content in the browser, and nobody has to visit a location with a USB stick. Thanks to scheduling, an offer starts and ends on screen automatically on exactly the right day.

The setup in Sotto's restaurants:

  • three digital menu boards above the counter in every restaurant
  • street-facing window screens at some locations
  • the chain's shared content and restaurant-specific highlights in their own playlists
  • seasonal offers and campaigns scheduled in advance
  • fully remote management in the browser, 29 screens in total

The chain grows, the screens keep up

Sotto's pace is fast: three new restaurants in winter 2025–2026 alone. Every opening brings launch campaigns, new screens and a new entrepreneur who needs to get started with content management quickly. With InfoBox, the new restaurant's screens are connected to the same system, the chain's ready-made playlists are assigned to them and the menu is on the wall on opening day. Platform takes a few minutes to learn, so a new entrepreneur needs no separate training project.

01

A consistent look in every restaurant

The same menu, the same campaigns and the same brand from Turku to Lahti. The chain's look doesn't depend on who had time to change the poster.

02

Price changes everywhere at once

When a price or a pizza changes, every restaurant's menu boards update within minutes, with no printing costs.

03

Seasons and new items scheduled

Seasonal offers and new pizzas are scheduled in advance, so they start and end automatically on the right day.

04

Window screens sell to the street

Street-facing screens show the offers to passers-by. Read how a window display brings more visibility and foot traffic.

05

New restaurants live right away

A new location's screens are connected to the same system and the ready-made playlists are assigned to them. The menu is on the wall on opening day.

"The screens just work. Menus and campaigns update in all our restaurants in a couple of minutes, and when we have a question, InfoBox support answers right away."

On the hardware side, the setup is light: a modern Android TV works as an InfoBox screen as is, and other screens get the €59 InfoBox Basic device plugged into the HDMI port. The software license is €9 per screen per month, and from ten screens €7 per screen per month, both billed annually. Sotto's 29-screen setup is therefore well into the lower price tier.
